I know Brasil is big, but I must tell you that France, and Paris are not in Brasil. Lots of people say french people are arrogant, I thought the same until I met brasilian people, they are almost worse than american people! I remember also a roda I did with my group in Grenoble, in France (also not in Brasil). Our trainer was french, but learned Capoeira in Brasil. There was an other group Capoeira in this city, with brasilian trainer. They came and provocated our trainer! They were ridiculous!!

Thats possible. I didnt say french or brasilian people are arrogant. I think, the best capoeiristas arent in Brasil or Farnce, they are everywhere,
where there is Capoeira.

This is not regional; regional is played much closer together without acrobatics and the players have a dialogue in the roda. This is contemporanea.
It's very impressive nonetheless, but this was all dance, no game. There's no interaction between the players.

I read your comments about these capoeiristas being French. They are not (and yes, I have this DVD too). This is a roda from Grupo Capoeira Brasil and it was filmed in France, but 95% of the people playing in this movie are Brazilians from our Grupo who were attending this event. I have been training with GCB fro alomst 6 years and I know all these people...

... and about the lack of interaction and the distance between the capoeiristas: I agree, but remember that this is just a fun/acrobatics roda. On the same DVD you can also see many beautiful interactive games :-)

Haha! Angola is very close too. Too close! ;-) However, traditional regional is played at a distance where kicks etc can actually hit and there is a dialogue between players. Most regional schools out there that claim they're regional are actually contemporanea.
An example of a real regional school would be Filhos de Bimba. It's led by Mestre Nenel, the son of Mestre Bimba.
