Most of what he's doing is not music at all. It's ripping on scales. I'm a shred fan so I'm not knocking it. But there is a such thing as going overboard. I play guitar, I love to play fast. But every now and then you have to stop and let a note breathe. Ad vibrato, melody, something. Rusty's got chops, but without a little soul it doesn't add up to much. But I know he plays better than this, I've heard some of his stuff...

No I'm not being a dick because I respect the guy and he can shred like a fool. But notes in a scale alone are not music. Mixing the notes up in a melodic pattern using pauses and phrases is music. And he does that well when he chooses.

Gotcha. Well that's my point. I love shred when done tatefully. I play fast too. But I try to use melody and expression rather than just jun a million notes together that lead nowhere.
