That is correct there ARE 12 notes in an octave. 8 NOTES, but there are sharps and flats on the way up the chromatic scale.

Thats called a Pitch Harmonic. You can make that sound by lightly placing your finger over (not pressing it down) lets say for example the low E sting on the 5th fret and then picking it. It might be better to pick close to the bridge. Hope that helped :)

depends on what u call metal. i hav a droped d and a droped b guitar. i use the d mostly for conventionnal metal, like trivium or metallica. b is more for chunky, agresive metal, like SlipKnoT or KoRn, nd alot ov metalcore nd grindcore use it. hoped tht helps

Drop D is pretty sweet for metal but for heavy metal I use drop C. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on the riff the dude in the vid plays at 1:05
