and as for bass harmonics being fuller that doesnt add any difficulty
i have been playing bass for mpore then a week
i would know
play a melody
so if your band basssist isnt playing the root
the whole depth is lost
and you will never sound full
hardcore is obviously a 'core'
and real hardcore music doesnt have breakdowns in it
but yeah
i said bass doesnt just play the root maybe you didnt read it right or something
mathcores a hard genre to play so good luck with your band and all
Its like whathisname from Messhugah said.
It's about the feel.
I find the hardest bass lines are in jazz. (Miles Davis for da win)
And you need to specify which hardcore
Cuz theres old school (when it was still mostly punk)
and todays version(hatebreed)
todays version has breakdowns
Me I liked when it was still punk
Many jazz bassist will "dance" around the root
which I love
Plus quite a few of the local bands do it around here
And they sound kick-ass.
and a lot of victor wootens harmonic bass lines are very fast and usually involve one note fretted and a harmonic.
W/e you have your opinion, i have mine
Paul Chambers is an epic bassist!
say if it was like
1&2&3&4
youd play the root on the one then whatever
Or like if I'm trying to be dissonant.
I may never hit it.
It's just something that I do.
It just gives the mix a different feel.
Plus, I love the Diminished scale.
That should spell it out right there.
